October 22, 2016 : It was not a good feeling for entire nation when India conceded a 13-18 lead to Iran as the half-time mark arrived but a magical comeback in the second half restricted us to see another world champion. India completed the hattrick of Kabaddi world Cup in standard style of the game and it was Ajay Thakur who played the role of fighter in the night of the Final. India defeated Iran by 38-29 proving dominance yet again in Kabbadi.
Kabaddi world cup is played in 2 formats : Kabaddi World Cup (Standard style) & Kabaddi World Cup (Circle style) organized by International Kabaddi Federation and Government of Punjab, India respectively.
Kabaddi World Cup (Standard style) :
Championship has been contested in 2004, 2007 and 2016. India emerged as champion in all three tournaments defeating Iran in Final.
Kabaddi World Cup (Circle style) :
Championship has been contested every year since 2010 to 2014, India emerged as champion in all 5 tournaments.
