Resolute Running By Our Next Fitness Star ‘Sachin Thakur’

Introducing Our Resolute Running star – ‘Sachin Thakur’

We all make New Year resolutions and then give up on them a month later, but that was not the case with Sachin. A 27 year old who took up running as a New Year resolution last year has preserved it until today.

It all started with making New Year resolution with his wife Gunjan, he was looking to quit smoking and to increase his stamina and endurance. He took up early morning jogging and walking as a daily physical exercise, but many running groups inspired him, their motivation became his motivation, and he started running. In the beginning, as he says, “it was not easy; the maximum he could run without a break was 800 mts to 1.5Km”. However, gradually he picked up his pace and running distance with time.

Sachin shares that he was very active in sports since childhood and has played many games regularly like Basketball and Football. However, after he joined office, all his physical activities suddenly stopped. His office hours looked like eight hours of sitting job, and this was taking toll on his health. It was then when he decided, “things can’t go like this anymore”. Since then there was no looking back.

We asked him about his routine and he replied saying, “I run 5k twice a week and 10k on Sundays. In addition, occasionally I go for a long run of 15K once in a month. I do not follow specific diet; but I regularly consume protein with milk, love boiled eggs, almonds and chicken once a week”.

As far as running is concerned, he admire Milind Soman a lot. He loves reading fitness stories of runners. In addition, he likes motivating his friends to start running. He also says passion drives people to run and to live fit life; people who are regular runners just love to run, it may be a short or a long distance run, they just enjoy running.

For giving advice for the beginners, he says, “I have no advice for the beginners since I just started running, but I want to share my favorite lines on running written by an anonymous person”:

Running is not a sport for pretty boys. It is about the sweat in your hair and the blisters on your feet. It is the frozen spit on your chin and the nausea in your gut. It is about throbbing calves and cramps at midnight that are strong enough to wake the dead. It is about getting out the door and running when the rest of the world is only dreaming about having the passion that you need to live each day with. It is about being on a lonely road and running like a champion even when there is not a single soul in sight to cheer you on. Running is all about having the desire to train and persevere until every fiber in your legs, mind, and heart is turned to steel. And when you’ve finally forged hard enough, you will have become the best runner you can be. And that’s all that you can ask for.
